Great hike for a easy day. Just a little overgrown on the south west corner above the wood walkway, and construction near the housing area has removed lots of the trail markers. Best when it’s moderately dry, definitely not after a large rain.

Did the whole loop. A few muddy areas but completely doable. Boardwalks were being worked on. Saw some raccoons. Overall a beautiful hike through pine forest, along the Little Manatee river, crossed Cypress Creek twice and through swampy areas that were magical.

Track (1/10/16, 8:12:04AM)
It rained 2" in the area yesterday. The river level rose 2 1/2 to 3'. The trail was covered with water in a few places and had to wade through it. Maximum depth was approximately 8". I would stop before the water, take my shoes and socks off and put flip flops on for wading. Changed out of and into shoes three times. One bridge had partially washed away some time ago. A temporary repair had been made with 2 x 6 boards at a lower level. It was tricky crossing the temporary repair because it was under muddy water and you could not see the boards. I always enjoy this trail but today everything seemed fresh and clean due to the rain yesterday.

It was cool and rained for a short time. It was a pleasant hike.\ This trail is still the best in the area.

This large dead tree fell across the trail some time this week.
