Rocktown Trail (9-6-2015)
This is Rocktown in Walker County, Georgia, USA. Not Russia! Rocktown is located within the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area and is managed by The Georgia DNR (Department of Natural Resources.) You will need a Hunting, Fishing, or GORP (Georgia Outdoor Recreation Permit) license to use this area, and you can purchase one online at the Georgia DNR website.

Rocktown is very popular with rock climbers, because of all the boulders and challenging rock outcrops. I was there just hiking and exploring. That's why the GPS track meanders around like I was lost. It was fun and there were several families, scouts and climbers exploring and training on the rocks.
Pigeon Mountain is well known for Ellison Cave. Google Ellison Cave Images for spectacular photos by NAT GEO and others. It's the largest vertical drop in the US, inside a cave! It's dangerous, so only go in with expert cavers.
Also, The Pocket is a wonderful, multi-species wildflower area. One of a few locations with the most varieties in Georgia.
Check the place out!
