Track (6/28/20, 8:35:13AM)
Day 1 on the Greenbush segment of the IAT heading out to shelter 5 where we camped. 7.8 miles. It’s a challenging trail, lots of ascents, rocky and slick in some spots due to moisture in the air. Hot and humid. Dropped our packs when we got to the shelter. Checked everything out. Nice area. Good spots for our tents. Shelter was clean and nice to know it’s there in case of bad weather. We then hiked up to Parnell Tower, another 3.8 miles each way. The tower was closed due to Covid. Bummed, both of us have the mindset to roll with the punches (that’s an old saying, and it seems funny to type out). We were spent by the time we returned to camp. Set up tents, relaxed, Rob gathered wood. I made a fire then we started our water for dinner. Made ourselves stay up until 8pm and agreed not to get up until 5am. Everything worked out perfectly.
