This is a good family hike. It’s in a canyon, so it’s a few degrees cooler than the surrounding area. There’s a small stream, but I suspect it may not be flowing much at all by late June. The parking is right along the interstate, so watch those kids and pets.

Deer Creek/ Grasshopper Canyon

Gentle hike follows a small creek that flows year -round. Great for dogs. Impressive rock formations. If you're ambitious you can rock scramble up to one of the big formations above the canyon. The waterfalls marked off-trail flow seasonally , but often have a small flow of water . Park on southbound I-25 pullover 1.8 miles south of Valencia exit 297.

Hiked with the family, so the route is a little meandering and took way longer than hiking solo.
