Overview
Great hike with lots to see once you get out of the forest. The hike to Catwalk is gradual and other than distance, is easily managed. Just past the Catwalk are alpine lakes. The Peak is challenging because of the loose mud and rocks. I poled up and down for stability.
Taking Children
Its a long hike. I had ~6 miles one-way. If the kids can handle that, great. I did see numerous children on the hike that looked poorly equipped. (sneakers, shorts and lightweight jackets) It was cold and windy at the Catwalk.

This is an excellent hike worthy of its reputation. I’ve been hiking on I-90 for years but somehow never made it out to this one!
At this point in the year, all snow is essentially gone from the trail and no special equipment is needed, although there are a few downed trees that require climbing over or under. The route provided here is accurate!
