Mount Elphinstone Summit Trail
Overview
This is a difficult out and back trail starting at Sprockids Bike Park.
The view from a rock outcrop near the summit is stunning on a clear day with Vancouver, Mount Baker, The Olympic Range, the Salish Sea and lower Sunshine Coast. Further along the helicopter pad has views out to Mt. Tantalus and Mt. Garibaldi. Well worth the strenuous accent.
Getting Started
From the lower parking lot 49.42868, -123.50913 enter the trail 50m down road before the private gate. From the upper parking lot 49.42871, -123.51277 start on the gated road. There are many trails in the Sprokids area try to keep to the right or north as you work your up through the trail network but avoid any trail marked to Langdale Falls. At a junction on a flat high point on the trail 49.42871, -123.51277 turn right and follow the named and marked trail toward the summit. Near the summit there is a steep section with a fixed rope to assist in the accent and decent. Return on the same route back to your vehicle at Sprockids Park.
Taking Children
This approximately a 7 hour hike and not recommended for children or for the faint of heart of any age. Take water as there is none along the way on hot summer days.
