Mount Scott
Overview
This is a easy out and back trail to Mount Scott in Crater Lake National Park. From the trailhead the trail heads across an open plain with Mount Scott towering about you on the left. The trail enters the trees and begins climbing up the mountain via a series of well-graded switchbacks. Then the trail crosses an open ridge on the final approach the summit where a no-longer-used fire lookout stands. Views stretch in all directions.
Due to snow this trail may be inaccessible until mid-summer. Check with park staff on the status before heading out.
Getting Started
The trail starts at the southwest end of the parking area.
Taking Children
The trail is well-graded and the hike is not long so children who are used to hiking should be able to handle it. There are some steep drop-offs at the summit.
