This is a well-trafficked, moderate out and back hike to Phelps Mountain in the High Peaks Wilderness in Adirondack Park.
This trail goes by Marcy Dam Pond and Marcy Dam.
Fee-based parking is available at the Adirondack Loj & Heart Lake Program Center on Adirondack Loj Rd. in Lake Placid, NY. During the high season, the parking lot fills early and quickly. There is parking along one side of Adirondack Loj Rd., as well, which requires a road walk to and from the trailhead.
