Windermere Public Camping Platform via Overland Track(edit)

After lunch back at the day 1 hut, we headed off to Windermere hut. The walk was reasonably flat with two plank or duck board a lot of the way. It is mostly out on the alpine plateau and very exposed. We were lucky with the weather though (although numerous other walkers were quite badly sunburnt - Queenslanders not used to the higher UV levels here down south). Ground was still very wet after the rain on day 1 and there was a lot of water lying around. Hut 2 was also really nice although this time with the weather better quite a lot of people opted to sleep in tents. All the snoring, farting, tossing and turning on noisy air beds in bunk rooms on night 1 probably put many off. Hut had a gas heater, though with the warmer day, I don’t know if it was even turned on. The lake is lovely and there’s a spot you can enter for a swim. Still no wombats. But plenty of wombat poo.
