Day 03: AV1 2022: Fodara to Rif LaVarella
This track has one of the steepest descents down the concrete jeep road to Pederu in the valley. Stop for a strudel and coffee - you deserve it.
Then press on to LaVarella by going steeply upstream to the high sandy plain and along pinkish mountains full of iron oxide. As we near Rif LaVarella (the most elevated brewery in the Dolomites!) we will be in a pasture basin surrounded by limestone slab terracing dotted with conifers. Called the "Marmot's Parliament" - can you guess why? Across the basin and reedy lake is Rif Fanes. Try their delicious "Kaiserschmarren"!
