Great hike through the forest. We were here on a Thursday - encountered one bike and no hikers the entire day. Lots of shaded sections. First two miles is all uphill and the trail gets narrow however it’s well defined and easy to follow. There is a trail junction just after mile three. The 258 is marked and this trail is to the right.

Nice shaded ridge trail with great views of Lake Coeur d'Alene. National Forest with $5 fee to access and use trailhead. Only did fist 1.75 miles in for 3,5 miles total. Taking more water next time to go further and make top of Mount Coeur d'Alene.
