Overview

This moderately difficult out and back hike has one of the best views of the Cascades. On a clear day you can see Mt Adams to the North in Washington. An easier route exists if you wish to drive to about 900' below the summit.

Getting Started

Turn off of HWY 20 @ NF Road 15. The parking area has a pit toilet.

Taking Children

This is not a good hike for small children because of the climb and the exposure at the top.

Was snow levels being low this possible is in the winter time when there’s barely any snow on the ground up high. It allows you the opportunity to have the summit Lookout post completely to yourself. Check the wind conditions and cloud conditions before departing for this hike.

Awesome view from old fire lookout location. Can see most peaks in Oregon on a clear day. Wildflowers along a good majority of the trail.
