On a clear day without wind, you see Mt Lassen. The last bit up to Rose peak will take your breath away unless you are in super shape

Wildflowers and butterflies were AMAZING, upper climb not as hard as I thought. The well-used trail never made me nervous with steep drops only on one side until the actual rocky top.

August 10, went out and back. The trail is very busy, dogs are allowed and hike in all shapes and sizes along with the people. The last leg of the ascent has two or three super windy sections. The wind is strong and icy, it makes it difficult to breathe. Apart from that, the climb is not that hard, the elevation is spread out and there are nice flat segments. The wild flowers are many, the meadows lush, the views in all directions. The parking lot was full at 9 AM, and the cars kept coming.
