Turkey Run Group Campground Loop via South Valley Trail and High Meadows Trail
Overview
This is a moderate loop trail in Prince William Forest Park.
This trail goes by Turkey Run Group Campground.
This loop is a fantastic way to see all that the park has to offer. A few moderate inclines make the easy rating a bit off the mark, but not by much. Most of the hike follow the South Form Quantico Creek, which features many opportunities for wading, fishing, or simply taking pictures of the beautiful scenery.
Getting Started
The hike starts near the Turkey Ridge group campsite. Parking is fairly abundant at the nature center. You will need to hike up the road a bit. The trailhead is on the other side of the locked gate. A little hidden, but not hard to find.
Taking Children
This is a great hike for young children. It is largely flat as it runs along the creek, and plenty of opportunities for splashing in the water on a hot day. You might hear a little whining on the inclines, but those are fairly short and shallow. 8/10 for children.
