Overview

This is a easy point to point trail to American Civil War Museum in Belle Isle.

This trail goes by Civil War POW Camp, The Power of Running Water, Historic Belle Isle, Cannon over the Camp, Ironworks Oil House, Native American Fishing, Hollywood Rapids, Quarry Equipment, Quarry Pond, First Break Rapids, Headgate Cleaner, Headgate, Belle Isle Hydro Plant, Steel Works Ruins Information, Belle Island - South James Rocks, and JRPS.

Highlights include two islands and great views of Richmond and the James River via the pedestrian bridge.

Getting Started

The roughly 35 space free parking lot by 22nd street is only open from May 1st to September 1st. Side streets are also a viable option to park. The proximity to downtown is relatively close, so walking or biking to this hike is also an option.

Taking Children

This is an easy hiking path and a great place to take children.
