This difficult out-and-back trail passes by Stella Lake and then ascends and follows the exposed ridge to Wheeler Peak in Great Basin National Park. Plan an early start to avoid afternoon thunderstorms while you're above treeline.

Start this hike from the Summit Trail parking area for the easiest start, or you can begin your hike right from the Wheeler Peak Campground, catching the main trail at Stella Lake.
