This is one of my favorites on Whidbey Island, especially on a typical summer day with moderate temperatures, clear skies and an on shore breeze. Those are great days for this hike because the views are expansive and wonderful. We saw both an eagle perched on a fallen dead limb as we walked the beach portion who sat there calmly as hikers and beach walkers passed within 50 feet of him. Later we saw a coyote who watched us quietly from the pastures in the Pratt Loop section of the hike.
