Mount Pemigewasset
Overview
This is a moderate one way trail in White Mountain National Forest.
This trail goes to the top of Mount Pemigewasset also known as Indian Head.
From the Flume Gorge Parking area, hop on the Franconia Notch Bike Path for 100ft, then turn left onto the Pemigewasset trail.
The trail passes through two underpasses before starting the ascent towards the top of the mountain.
The top of the mountain offers great views of Franconia Notch and the surrounding mountains to the south.
The Pemigawasset trail is a good beginner hike for those looking to ease into the more difficult hikes in the area.
Getting Started
Parking
The trailhead starts from the Flume Gorge Parking area, however the parking is reserved for those hiking on the Flume Gorge Trail. Instead, drive one tenth of a mile North to the Liberty Springs Trailhead Parking lot.
Dogs
Dogs are allowed on a leash or under direct voice control. This hike is not as rocky as other hikes in the area, making it a good option if your dog is still toughening their paw pads up.
Taking Children
This hike is suitable for children. Watch children closely at the top of the mountain, where there are steep drop-offs.
This is an alternate route for Indian Head Loop.
