Brown Mountain is a pleasant 4.66 mile hike through typical Sonoran desert flora. There has been rain, and the vegetation was lush and green. The trail is moderately strenuous throughout the ascent. Once you head down, it is pleasantly easy. Anyone staying at Gilbert Ray Campground will find it very convenient, as the trailhead is directly across from the campground entrance.
