Overview
This is a difficult loop trail in Russel Park.
- There is generally cell phone service around the lake, but a few dead spots. Conserve your phone battery by shutting your phone totally off except when checking maps, communicating, taking photos, unless you have a solar charger or a backup charger. 2. Do not bring your dog on this hike unless you are prepared to carry your dog out if he/she becomes lame or ill. The rangers, staff, police, or EMS WILL NOT rescue your dog if they cannot make it out on their own. 3. This sounds counterintuitive as the trail goes around one of the largest bodies of fresh water in Central Texas, but here goes: Bring a lot of water with you. Most of the trail is not adjacent to the water and in many places, there is no access via side trails to and from the waterside. All the parks offer free/clean water (Cedar Breaks, Russell, Tejas, and Jim Hogg) to get refills.
This trail goes by Lake Georgetown.
