Overview
Easily accessed hike close to Calgary. Park at the barrier lake turnoff right at the lake (past the barrier lake visitor center). Hike along the windy gravel path until you get into the trees. Slow switchbacks up a wide path will take you to prairie view lookout. There is a sign at the top pointing you in the direction of the Barrier lake fire lookout that is worth the extra elevation gain! Hike back down the way you came or return to prairie view lookout and continue down the trail to do the longer loop.
