Overview

This is a moderate out and back trail in Sea to Sea Regional Park.

This trail goes by Mary Vine Falls, Upper Peden Lake, and Peden Lake.
This trail should be renamed “Empress Mountain Trail”

Getting Started

Park along Sooke river road. The hike is on easy to follow trails / old logging roads. The final section up to the summit is steeper.

Not recommended for children under 10

Absolutely beautiful! You pass 3 waterfalls, mossy forests, not too busy, and the views make it all worth it!

Left from Parking lot # 2 at Sooke Pot holes. Summited Mt. Empress. Beautiful sunny day with about 4 feet of snow on summit. Semi difficult hike, but much easier in snow conditions compared to rocky wet trail most any other time of year. Absolutely beautiful hike though. Highly recommend.
