Overview

This is a easy out and back trail to Lily Mountain just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park, and is free to park and hike.

Parking is limited (8-12 vehicles), and there are no restroom facilities or trash receptacles at the trailhead. Pack it out. The trail is dog-friendly (keep your dogs on leash, this is a busy trail - and pack out your dog poop), but there's no water on the trail.

This trail goes by Quickie Cliff, Crag of Fear, Slamdance Buttress, and Lily Mountain Trailhead.

There is a fairly steep section after the switchback and a little bit of a scramble to get you to the top. You will be rewarded with sweeping 360 degree views!

Getting Started

Look for the small dirt parking area on the West side of highway 7. That's it. No facilities at this location.

Moderate difficult, the first mile is easy, the second mile starts to ascend and will tire unprepared novice hikers.

Lily Mountain RMNP
Lily Mountain RMNP. Left Balfour at 1 and was hiking by 2:15. Pretty easy hike, snowy trail the last half and not of the elevation gain was the last mile. Passed several folks without spikes or poles and they were having a tough hike, especially those with the baby. Shorts and tank top could have sufficed until the top there was a bit of wind and a little scramble. Not. Ad at all. Quick one.

Lilly Mountain Hike, Estes Park, CO
Park at trailhead or park down road at Lilly Lake. Moderate 2 mile uphill hike. Last 100 ft are a bit of a challenge. Summit is spectacular. Attached pix from summit.
