Finally got back to Howe Hill Road and the WMNF "Black Mountain Trail" yesterday after a hiatus of about 2.5 years.
I have to say that the logging actually had a beneficial impact on the trail by improving the road to the Trailhead parking and the logging road to the trail start (NFS Signage). In spite of heavy rain the day before trail was dry and very little water for the dogs so bring your own. A cloudy drizzly day on top but even so always nice to be out with the dogs. Easy walking to the totally fogged in summit (1 hr. 5 minutes) and a pleasant walk back down.
