Good pre-Winter hike. Ice was minimal requiring micro-spike only for the top third of the mountain. Minimal elevation loss/gain on walk over to Waumbek. Decent views from both peaks through the trees.

A Mid-January hike in cold but calm conditions. There is one large blowdown on the trail within the first half mile but there are well worn paths around it. The trail is well packed snow that you only need micros spikes for at the time of this report.

This was a perfect winter trail. Snow pack is nice, easy parking, protected and then great views. Hard enough to be worth it. It’s worth the extra 30min drive from most hikes. If you want a hardcore above tree line hike this isn’t it.

Mt. Waumbek

Wednesday 42F - 32F foggy and misty . Trail conditions was typical spring trail conditions. Ice, snow, water running, mud , post hole Little windy but not bad . No views today. Tagged and lunch at the near old fire place David Dinzeo, Jim Nuttall, Kwi-Hui Skene. Stay at the Joe Dodge in Gorham N.H

Starr King and waumbeck 1/24/22 08:58:41

A pretty easy winter trip up Starr King and Waumbeck. Trail in excellent winter condition. One blowdown in the first half mile with easy work arounds. Two entertaining Canada Jays on the summit of Starr King. The Kilkenny Ridge trail was broken out to the north from Waumbeck.
