Welch-Dickey Loop Trail to Welch then Dickey Mtn
Overview
Considered a 'hidden gem' of the White Mountains, the Welch Dickey Loop trail passes over both Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain.
This is a difficult loop trail with strenuous uphill and fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.
This trail traverses several steep granite slabs that can be very slick and dangerous when wet. This hike is best enjoyed after a day or two without rain.
Expect this hike to take 2-4 hours.
Getting Started
There is parking at the trailhead. This trail is a day-use fee site. A day pass costs $5.
You can pay with cash or check upon arrival and must put display the recreation tag on your dash.
Some parks passes are permissible in lieu of the day use fee. These include:
- White Mountain National Forest Annual Pass
- White Mountain National Forest Household Pass
- Interagency Pass
- Golden Age Pass
- Golden Access pass
Once you're ready to hike, hang a right on the trailhead follow the yellow blazes!
Taking Children
This hike may be suitable for some children. The uphill is very strenuous and there are some steep sections or areas with sharp drop-offs. If it has rained recently, the trail can be very slick and dangerous.
