Overview
This is a easy out and back trail to The Watchman in Crater Lake National Park. The trail starts out on an old roadbed, once part of the Rim Road around the lake. At a junction take the left fork and begin climbing up via a series of switchbacks in the forest. At the summit is an old fire lookout that is no longer staffed and a viewing area with a fantastic view of Crater Lake.
This trail goes by Hillman Peak.
Getting Started
The trail starts at the south of the parking area. Follow the sidewalk along the road and then the trail climbs up away from the road.
Taking Children
This trail is very short and is quite suitable for kids. The viewing area at the top is surrounded by a low stone wall.

Watchman Lookout
Easy hike for adults, moderate for kids. This non-technical trail is a short climb to the fire lookout (note this for kids following the Junior Ranger scavenger hunt).
A beautiful, panoramic view from the top of Crater Lake and the surrounding mountains, including inactive volcanos in the distance.
