Up from Ticlio, lucky to have snow but, hard to see trail up to antenna on ridge at times. Climbed hill to west of antenna for some great views. Then went down from antenna to get around steep rock and climb up back side of Anticuna Oeste. Too slippery in snow and mud as it got steeper so turned back about 70m vertical from top. Should be no problem in dry conditions.
Very nice hike today. Temperature was probably in the high teens low 20s. They did a really interesting and good job clearing out the woods here at Murphy Hanrehan. looking forward to my next hike out here.

We did this trail up to the “look off”. The look off is actually probably just a high point and is actually just a small clearing. This place is a trail system though the Forrest, and in the winter there are a ton of snowmobiles that fly down the path. I’d imagine it would be the same in summer/fall with ATVs and motorbikes.

Lost the signal underground, and on part of the trolley segment.
Very nice hike to get to about 4500m elevation. Leave road at one point and follow trail up the valley. Carlos (age 90) has lived there all his life tending his sheep and llamas. His dogs will run up barking when you are about 500 m from his place. It is best if you wait or advance only when they run back until Carlos appears. He is delightful but a little forgetful. He expects 2 Soles per person to pass through his land and on up to the lake. He does maintain trail and pick up the litter left by the inconsiderate. He also likes canned tuna so consider bringing a few cans up for him.
