I love Mission Peak. This hike was a couple of days after the most recent rain and the trail was in good condition. Be warned, if you hike too soon after a rain the trail can be unpleasantly muddy, with the mud caking on the bottom of your shoes. The trail showed evidence of that happening recently, with clods of dirt left after the transition from dirt to gravel, but it'll be good until the next rain. I usually loop back down on the Horse Heaven Trail but that side is usually a little muddier so I didn't chance it, don't know what it looks like now. The best part of the view today was fog filling the valley in the direction of Mt. Diablo, it was gorgeous in the early morning sun.
