Trail Length: 1.21
Low-End Rating: 2
High-End Rating: 2
This is a very short and fairly easy trail to a parking area. After parking, you hike for a couple of minutes to go to and through Tusher Tunnel. This trail is definitely worth the trip.
Hidden Canyon and Tusher Tunnel start at the same place. If you have a GPS it is fairly easy to find. From the highway, you travel west until a left turn at 3.6 miles. This is the turn that is difficult to pinpoint without a GPS.
Tusher Tunnel starts as a left turn at a "Y" just after the left turn. It is an easy trail at this point that would be fine for any SUV. Trail finding is easy.
When you get to a crossroads, turn downhill to get to the tunnel. This is the only rocky and slightly difficult part of the trail. If you go up the hill instead you can work your way out onto a large slab of slickrock. From the edge you can look down over Bartlett Wash and the Hidden Canyon trail.
After turning downhill, the end of the trail comes very quickly. There is a sandy turnaround where you can park, and the hiking trailhead is marked with a sign. It says that the hike is 5 minutes, but it's much shorter than that.
Hike along this trail following cairns and soon the tunnel is ahead of you. You can walk all the way through to the other side where the hike ends. You can hike further, but there isn't anything else to see. Hike back out through the tunnel and drive out the way you came in.
