We started out from the Highline trailhead a little late in the day and ended up hiking with our flashlights in the dark. The trail has a few spots that are muddy but can be traversed without getting dirty. Otherwise the trail is remarkably well maintained with raised areas over boggy areas. Since it was a Monday evening we didn't see anyone else on the trail or at the lake. Right near the end of this track near the southeast corner of Pinto Lake there is a small natural spring that someone has rigged up with a nice little hollowed out log as a pipe/trough. We returned the next day following the same trail back.
