Nice 48 mile hike offering some of the best Central Oregon has to offer.
I started the hike from Pole Creek TH (outside of Sisters) and hiked it clockwise. This allowed me to go with the flow on the PCT, minimizing traffic coming my direction. With the exception of Green Lakes and Obsidian, this track offers great solitude and amazing views. The West side is definitely better than the East Side, which in certain areas still shows the effect of some more recent burns. I hiked this over 2 days and 1 night and was accompanied by my dog, who equally seemed to enjoy the experience. We camped at Reese Lake, which is halfway. There was abundant water along the trail, with the exception of the section between Matthieu Lakes and Pole Creek TH on the way back. Definitely recommendable, but from what I understand most parties complete it in 4 days.
