Actual hike was about 7mi, but forgot to turn off tracking when we got back and ended up tracking our drive back to the ranger station where we got ice cream. :) Couldn't park at the trailhead, so drove back ~0.8mi to a small parking lot on the side of the road and hiked from there. Trails is well maintained and slightly inclined on the way to the caves and has a fair bit of shade, but on a hot day you'd want to make sure to be wearing a hat/etc. The cave is nice and cool and far more rocky requiring some crawling and climbing on rocks. Definitely best to wear a headlamp to allow both hands free to grab ahold of rocks. We chose to hike back through the cave rather then do the loop around on the return. There is a nice shady spot on either end of the caves where it's nice to take a break/have lunch/etc. Overall, not too strenuous, but definitely carry plenty of water as there is enough sun & heat in the summer where you can dehydrate easily.
