So this was actually 9.2 miles round trip - not 6. The GPS in Everytrail continues to screw up on the return trip (every time now). Pretty good hike. A bit confusing at the base of Red Mountain on which way to go. We stopped for lunch there and turned around. Massive boulders (read: cliffs) fallen off and laying in the gulley. Not for trail runners - way too much scree. We took the "abandoned" trail on the way back, because normally that's where the good stuff is, but there wasn't anything but a nice creek down there. Not sure why it's abandoned. Although the parking lot was packed, most of the hiikers here go to Kendall Katwalk, so you lose them all very quickly. Amazing views of Mt. Rainier.
