DBLAKENH Aug. 26, 2019 New favorite trail south of the notches. After leaving the Lincoln Woods rail trail (25 minutes), the ascent is a nice moderate incline for the first hour. Then shifts to comfortable switchbacks for another hour. Then the ladders, which are very well constructed and easy to ascend to the false summit. From there, another 45 minutes or so on fairly flat terrain toward the true summit. Final ascent is a blast and only takes maybe 20 minutes. Unbelievable views or the ridge line to Liberty, Little Haystack and Lafayette....and to the east, great view of the Bonds with Washington in the background. My tracker wasn't working correctly on the way up, so I'd estimate the total up/back at 10-11 miles. I was up in 3:15 and with short stops completed in under 6 hours. This is a keeper for sure!
