The Lost Lake trail is a fairly easy, and incredibly beautiful, alpine hike that is great for a family outing with dogs. It seems to be a popular fishing destination as well. Beginning in the basin just below Cottonwood Pass, the trail heads south through tundra and forest, around tree line and on to the lake. It is tucked against rugged cliffs that form the Continental Divide. To get to the Trailhead, drive about 30 minutes west of Buena Vista on Cottonwood Pass Rd. Just a bit south of Cottonwood Pass, and right above timberline, you will see pullouts on both sides of the road. There is not a sign at the trailhead.
