Parked at end of Pilon rd—very muddy rutted last section. Go slow.
Followed well-marked yellow trail up to yellow box. From there to split rock is on not well-established trails, had to bushwhack quite a bit. Very nice views over lakes but split rock itself is not worth a visit (just a rock w/ a split, no view). Lots of trout lilies on the trail to split rock (not blooming yet for the most part).
From split rock back down on easy, well-established trails. Many blooming bloodroot on the edge of the escarpment by the meadow where “Wall Street” meets the equestrian trail.
Lots of trillium in the forest, not blooming yet. Saw two woodpeckers, a pair of ducks in flight, a toad and a turtle. A few bugs flying but none biting.
