Saint Vrain Mountain
Alpine ski tour with my buddies Charlie Khoury and Derek Zachmann. Snow conditions on the high, sun-exposed east slope of St Vrain were pretty good. We had to boot-hike the last 50-100 feet to the summit, as the wind-blown slopes held a lot of exposed rock. After skiing down from the summit to tree-line, the snow became hard and somewhat crusty. It was very difficult to make turns. We largely snowplowed our way back to the trailhead, with lots of stops to diminish the quad-burn.
