Kevin and I biked the Hennepin Canal Trail from Lock 21 where we camped on Monday night. We had dropped off his suv to the west at the Canal Park off of Rt 82 at Genesco IL. 32 miles. Headwind for about 50% of the ride. Clear and low 70’s though. The Canal is 50-75 yards wide in sections. Lots of access points. Nine aqueducts along its 70 mile stretch from the Rock River near the Mississippi. It flows east into the Illinois River at Hennepin. Old locks throughout. A feeder Canal runs into it from the upper Rock River. This canal path is 25 miles long and runs near Sterling IL. Many good campgrounds along the Canal. Bring your own water. Lots of good looking fishing spots. Locals say there big ones in there. Tomorrow we will head east to Hennepin.
